The Workbench. Concept for this was simple: want The Workbench. Concept for this was simple: wanted a very sturdy/heavy, long bench for layout work, chiseling, clamping etc. Shed floor plan design always had it abutting the west workshop wall, so provision was needed to accommodate the air compressor and its own little trapdoor. 90mm square cedar posts for 6 sturdy legs, braces with structural pine and steadied with marine grade ply sheets. South end is open so creates a cavity for the compressor to tuck into. North side has another piece of ply - with jigsawed cutouts for the compressor and end kegs - doubling as a storage shelf/stabilizing plate. Top is laminated ply fixed to provide further stability and to give a base for the prefab top - a 2m laminated oak panel into which Iโ€™ll cut bench dog holes and embed other fittings. May end up putting spring/hinges on the jutting north-side extension of the top plate to permit movement of the extractor - which is on wheels - at some point. #workshop #woodwork #timber #carpentry #design #bench
